Saint Finbar Church - Our Community

Our Past
For seventy years the Catholic Community of Saint Finbar has been a beacon of hope and a place of faith for citizens of Burbank and our greater area. Founded in the fall of 1938, our community began in the last days of the Great Depression, served as a rallying point of faith during the tribulations of the Second World War and stood as an institution of truth and Christian Witness during the challenging economic times and dramatic social changes seen in the latter half of the twentieth century.

Throughout the parish’s storied history, the members of our community have been at the forefront of Christian service, community service and social justice. Saint Finbar Church is the model of a diverse and vibrant faith community of tomorrow living its mission to the full today.

Our Present
In this first decade of a new millennium, our community continues its mission of bringing the Good News of Salvation through Jesus Christ to every ear that will hear and every heart that is open to His call. Even in today’s challenging times, we remain steadfast in our mission. While much has changed in our seventy-year history, one truth remains constant: Where Keystone meets Olive, people meet Christ.

Situated at the eastern gateway to the San Fernando Valley, Saint Finbar Church is the largest and most culturally diverse Catholic faith community in Burbank. We offer a mass schedule that includes Roman Catholic liturgies in three languages –English, Spanish and Vietnamese. We are the only parish in Burbank to offer mass in Spanish and the only parish in our greater area that that offers mass in Vietnamese. Our parish is also home to a large Filipino community. Our community’s ethnic and cultural diversity is among its greatest strengths.

The Saint Finbar Church faith education programs are centered on preparation for the Sacraments of Christian Initiation and continuing faith education for children of God of all ages. Our faith education programs are designed to foster knowledge of God and greater spiritual understanding.

Our expansive ministry programs witness to the Good News of Salvation through Jesus Christ while addressing the spiritual needs of our Burbank community. Our programs provide spiritual support and instruction while applying resources to combat spiritual ignorance and human indifference. We celebrate God’s gift of life through our many faith-based programs and family activities.

Our Future
To meet the growing needs of our culturally and ethnically diverse community, we are embarking on our most ambitious capital development plan since the construction of our church in 1952. Our Building on the Keystone plan will provide for the space needs of our community today and for many years to come. Where Keystone meets Olive, people meet Christ. It’s our desire the corner of Keystone and Olive will remain the place where faith intersects with hope and the beacon that shines brightly each night from our spire will illuminate the path to God’s love for tomorrow’s generations of adults and children.

Please contact our parish office to become part of our vibrant, Christ-centered community today and share in our bright and promising vision for tomorrow.
