For the time being, I, Sally Meyers, can claim to be the newest member of the parish staff. I was named for my paternal grandmother; she was known as Sally, a Scottish derivative for Sarah. So, legally I am Sarah but am called Sally. My Catholic education began in Pittsburgh, PA and continued here in CA with the Mission San Jose Dominicans.  Upon graduating from Queen of the Holy Rosary College in Fremont, CA, I taught in several Dominican Catholic schools before entering the public school system, i.e. the Los Angeles Unified School District.

My two children are married.  My daughter lives in Tennessee with her husband and three of her sons. Her oldest is with me.  My son has one child, my only granddaughter, and they live in Duarte. Both of my children attended “CCD” classes which sparked my interest in this field.  While they were in class, I was either a catechist or an office helper.

The summer following my husband’s death from cancer, I began working with the teens in our parish intending to set up a program for them that other adults would take over and run while I continued teaching.  It didn’t work that way and in time I left LAUSD to take on full time ministry. I am now a Master Catechist with certificates in Youth Ministry, Confirmation, Liturgy, and RCIA from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.   Recently, I received my degree in Pastoral Studies from Loyola New Orleans.

I look forward to meeting many of you and to working with you as we strive to bring about the vision of our parish – serving Christ in one another.
