Saint Finbar Church Faith Formation For Children
“Continuing formation in the faith is directed…to the Christian community …so that it may mature also in (its) interior life of love of God and of the brethren as well as in its openness to the world as a missionary community.” National Directory of Catechesis
As the bishops wrote in the above statement, faith formation is as continuous for adults who are growing in their faith as it is for the children who are just beginning their faith journey:
The child, Jesus, was presented in the temple, and upon the family’s return home, the evangelist writes that he (Jesus) continued to grow in wisdom and in grace. Luke 2:40 - An age of completion is not recorded.
The primary purpose of the program of faith formation at St. Finbar Church is to help parents understand their privileged role in the faith upbringing of their children, a responsibility they accepted at each child's Baptism. The secondary purpose is to expose the children to the beauty of the Catholic Christian way of life through grade level instruction in a classroom setting under the direction of certified catechists.
